Writing that heading gave me the ick already. Hahahaha!
What do you mean? Problems? A gift to mankind? You must be out of your mind!
Now, before you go ahead and conclude that I am bananas, please hear me out. I have a solid argument, I promise. Have you heard of the word Kairos before? If not, let me let you into this world and word that makes the world go round, just like love.
Kairos is an ancient Greek word meaning the right or critical moment. It signifies a good or proper time for action and has a qualitative nature compared to Chronos which focuses on the sequential, quantitative nature of time.
An easier way to think of Kairos is as a crossroad. Every time you drive and get to a crossroad, you slow down, and carefully check for other cars before proceeding. You do not just drive carelessly into the junction as you risk causing an accident. Kairos moments in our lives can show up in different manners and can be both negative and positive. From the death of a loved one to the birth of a child , getting a promotion at work, getting laid off from a job, a wedding, a breakup, sickness, a date night with your spouse, a beautiful sunset, etc. They are normally not neutral and more often than not can be considered turning points.
Think of it. What’s the last big thing you accomplished in your life or change you made? What happened that triggered that event or change in your life?
When you carefully examine your life, you will realize that every time you experience a ‘Kairos’ moment, it catapults you to a new level. Think of Joseph being sold into slavery by his brothers, or Daniel being thrown into a lion’s den. How about the trio that was thrown into fire? Whilst Kairos moments can be challenging to navigate, they are God’s gift to mankind. It’s in these moments that we get to learn and see the true essence of life and the power of God in our lives.
As lifelong learners and leaders in the different spheres of life, we can begin embracing and learning from these moments by :
- Practicing mindfulness. Being in the moment will help us remain alert and able to discern God’s voice and solutions He is fronting to us and the truths He is reminding us of daily through our life experiences.
- Embracing Imperfection. Life is not linear. The ups and downs are part of it and the moment we accept this, we begin viewing life differently and living more optimistically.
- Lastly, Mathew 6:25 reminds us so starkly of the need to let go of our worries. 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Life is a circle of lessons and Kairos moments are God’s interventions and opportunities for us to enter the learning circle. So next time you are faced with an exciting or difficult moment, milk it! The moments are rare as they are special.
Love and Light!
Wow! It felt like you were talking about me.😊.
So good ,short and sweet and so informative
The right moments for change most of the time happens when we are at our lowest. Its inspiring to have the assurance that at the end of this ‘I will see problems as a gift and not burdens any’. Kudos👍
Thank you Moses, for interacting with the content. I pray that we get to develop that lens and stop being so problem averse – I am mostly addressing this to myself because Lord knows.. Hehehehe..
